Praise Him Through the Storm

This season has been a hard one. There’s been so many low times but there have also been so many high times too!

It is so easy when in the midst of the storm to focus on the storm because that is the loudest thing you can hear.

The bills are piling up The fridge is looking scarce and empty The clothes have multiple holes and the shoes are even non-existent The fees haven’t been paid The loan repayment plans are simply not working The bailiffs are knocking on the door The bank is calling your phone endlessly The declines are real from Tfl to your local grocery store.

How can you even focus on anything else when the storms are raging all around you...

But one thing my Bishop taught me through Psalm 23 is that the same God Who was with David in the mountain tops, in the green pastures was the same God Who was with him in the valley, when he passed through the valley of the shadow of death...

So what does this mean?

It means that regardless of how bad your situation may look God remains God- He is still good and He is working and our confidence is in this that He has done it before and He will surely do it again! He is working all things together for our good because He has called us to purpose and we love Him and we have put our trust in Him so He cannot put us to shame!

So what do we do as we wait?

We don’t get discouraged

We don’t breakdown

We don’t give up

We don’t complain

We don’t backslide

No we don’t! But...

We praise

We dance

We sing

We shout

We worship

Why?

Because it confuses the enemy! When the Israelites lifted a shout of praise the walls of Jericho fell down flat! When the Israelites praised God in battle it confused their enemies so much they killed each other!

This is what happens when we praise! God shows up!

It took me a week to commit to write this post because I wanted to write after I have come out of this season. But more than ever looking around and hearing what others are going through too I believe this is a seasonal word that will liberate us from every bondage of depression and discouragement the enemy has kept us trapped in!

It’s not going to be easy. But I pray that even in this season God cultivates in us a heart of gratitude as we take our eyes off the storm and unto Him Who is faithful and just to come through for us!

Hold on, hold out and continue giving God the praise because He is working! He is our miracle worker and He is never late trust Him! He makes everything beautiful in its time...

“Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭42:11‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
