A Matter of Perspective

Updated: Jun 2, 2022

What can you see?

God told Abraham to look up to the stars and to count them, for his descendants shall be as many as the stars! Abraham looked up to the stars and they ceased to be stars in his eyes and became his descendants because he believed what the Lord had told Him!

What can you see?

What is the Lord asking you to look at?

What have you decided to see?

The Word says without vision, men perish!

Most of us are running around like headless chickens, buring out all over the place because we lack vision! We cannot see- we have lacked the capability to fully see with clarity becasue we do not believe!

Without faith, Abraham would have seen the stars as simply stars but He mixed the Promise of God with faith. So he was able to see Isaac, Jacob, Esau, Joseph, Judah, David and even Jesus and all his descendants.

So my question to you is do you really believe?

So I know we hear over and over again that God does not fail us...

So why am I drowning in debt left, right and centre?

Why did my brother and his family get evicted from their house?

Why is my friend in the hospital battling with a deadly illness?

Why did my Aunty, uncle and son die and leave four orphans behind?

Why are there more homeless people in comparison to the ones that have homes?

Why is the rate of suicide daily increasing?

Why is the killing of young people by other young people daily increasing?

Why does it seem like the darkness is prevailing over the light...

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that God does not fail us when there is so much going on around us that questions His existence...

But as I sit here writing with so much pain in my heart, I remember what the Word says about the darkness covering the earth and dense darkness over the people, but the Lord shall arise upon us and His glory shall be seen upon us. The darkness may seem overwhelming but in the verse before He told us to Arise and Shine for our light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon us.

He prepared us for what is to come!

And if we focus our attention on the darkness we neglect the fact that the light has come. For what we give our attention to, what we yield our members to becomes lord over us! Just because bad things happen does not mean God is not good! He is still good! His Nature never changes! In the midst of turbulent situations He develops in us the ability to be still with His Peace that transcends all human logic, reasoning and understanding!

He is still working even when we don’t realise it!

Even in the midst of all the storms currently going on God was still working and by reflecting I was able to see that! I passed my driving test on the 8th time encountering so much favour from my driving instructor who let me use his car even though I hadn’t finished paying for my lessons or even the test! I passed my first year of my masters with a merit without my university kicking me out for unpaid fees! COOH now has a bank account and gets monthly donations and there’s a COOH family that is daily expanding! I may not have all the money I want but God has provided for my daily needs and has taught me to trust Him for everyday! I have encountered so much divine favour in this turbulent time I can’t even name them all!

So today I want to challenge you to change your perspective! Choose to think on the things that are working in your life and be grateful. Everyday I try to thank God for at least 10 things or people that I’m grateful for. I want to cultivate a heart of gratitude and constantly be in remembrance of what He’s doing in my life. I want it to stir up my faith in Him so I can see beyond the now to the future hope He has set before us....

“Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Josh. 1:5.]” Hebrews‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
