Wait

‘Wait’

The four letter word that seems so short but it's definition can be anything but that...

I begun this piece in 2016 but I’m still seeing the relevance of it now. Just like back then I was defending against my fear of waiting but fast forward two years and more than ever I’m learning how to wait, I’m learning how to trust and I’m learning how to be patient.

I do not know about you but I hate waiting like simply the idea of it creeps me out.

But what do you when the vision God has shown you is in no correlation with your present reality. Instead it is a big contradiction!

What do you do?

What can you do?

To be honest you cannot do anything but wait, you have to patiently wait for the promises of God to become a reality in your life. Whether it may be through fasting and praying and even warfare at the end of the day you still have to wait!

You may feel like you’ve been waiting your whole life God knows that’s the way I feel half the time but there must be a reason why God is asking us to wait no?

Let’s take a look in the Word and see what God says because there must be a reason why He asks us to wait because it surely can’t be for bants!

Psalm 27:14

Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.

Isaiah 40:31

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Romans 5:3-5

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. ‭‭

These are just three Scriptures out of the many that teach us about waiting and we can see the common theme that is present in the Word about waiting: it produces something positive in us. Waiting produces character, it produces strength and it produces hope. The type of hope that does not put us to shame!

But some people may say this is not enough how do I know if I wait God will come through for me. I will say that’s when faith comes to play. I’m learning to believe that even though my eyes cannot see it yet in the physical does not mean that my God is not faithful or true to His Word because I have seen Him come through for me on countless occasions. It is just that I don’t intentionally remind myself of His goodness often rather I seem to focus on what He hasn’t done. I was reminded yesterday about the importance of thanksgiving and having a heart of gratitude it feeds my faith. I even learnt today that giving thanks decreases blood pressure, decreased inflammation, better immune system, and reduces a hormone related to stress from being released!

So I want to encourage you just like I’m encouraging myself to shift your focus off what hasn’t been done and as you wait on God feed your faith by being thankful for what He has done and what He is more than capable of doing!

There is nothing better than waiting with a good attitude it is life to your soul...
